During the unprecedented lockdown period imposed as a result of the current coronavirus outbreak, many Mauritians have faced challenges as a result of severe restrictions. Those most vulnerable were poorer families who found themselves stuck in their homes with no access to food and other basic necessities. When grocery stores were closed, the situation escalated. With the help of Innodis, Foodwise was able to distribute 1,400kgs of food to people in need between the 23rd of March and the 3rd of April 2020. This represented approximately 5,600 meals that were delivered to the most vulnerable families during the crisis, helping them to stay home and stay safe!
